I’m off to the post office to file an appeal of the B.C. Lottery Corporation’s decision to sever all of the key portions of their endorsement contract with Vancouver Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo.
Earlier this summer, it was revealed that Luongo’s World Series of Poker $10,000 fee was being paid by BCLC in return for him wearing a PlayNow.com logo. We wanted to know what else the deal included, so we submitted a Freedom of Information request to BCLC, asking for Luongo’s contract.
Yesterday, we got a copy, with all of the important elements blacked out: no term, no compensation information, no list of items Luongo can be reimbursed for, no definition of what “endorsement services” he provides, no list of future events, no estimated time commitment and no information on amendments to the original agreement.
So off to appeal the BCLC’s heavy-handed severing. We’ll keep you in the loop.
